Manager/Coach Ice Use Guidelines

Each year, LMHA signs contracts with the City of Leduc for the use of the 4 arenas.  This includes the cost of ice and the amount of ice time that the association will receive for the season.

It is the responsibility of the LMHA's Ice Coordinator to schedule all of the ice allocated. The ice time is allocated to both practice and game slots.

The Ice Coordinator must coordinate all of the league schedules for the LMHA teams that play in various different leagues, which is over 45 individual teams. League schedules are set up by each respective league and then passed on to the LMHA to fit into our allotted time, which includes informing the Ref in Charge to arrange for referees for the games. Teams that do not play in leagues (U7) are scheduled practices and exhibition games.

THE FOLLOWING POLICIES APPLY:

If a team wishes to make a change in their schedule, the manager (or coach) must notify the Ice Coordinator.

If a home game need to be rescheduled, the original slot will be given back, and alternative ice slots will be offered.  Ice time to replace these games is not guaranteed and the LMHA Ice Coordinator is the only person authorized to make any changes. This means that no coach may trade ice times with another coach under any circumstances.  The Ice Coordinator will do the best possible job to accommodate a team's request, as long as proper notice is given when a change is requested.

Should a team wish to cancel a scheduled ice time (either practice or game time), the Ice Coordinator must be given AT LEAST twenty five (25) days notice to do so. This gives just enough time to ask the City to re-sell the ice if no other team wishes to pick it up. If the twenty five (25) days notice is not given, and no other teams are interested in the time, then the team wishing to cancel the original time will be charged the fee to cover the unused ice.

If a team wishes to attend a tournament that is out of town, and they have a scheduled game in Leduc that is in conflict, the ice time for that game must be given back to the Ice Coordinator.  Ice time to replace this game is not guaranteed, therefore the team must understand that they may have to forfeit the game in the event no other ice becomes available.  There must be at least twenty five (25) days notice, in order for that the open ice slot to be rescheduled, more advanced notice to work out rescheduling of games is appreciated and helps the chances of finding an alternate game slot.

LMHA will not be responsible for costs of reschedule league games, due to tournaments, if ice has to be taken outside of LMHA ice slots.

If any team does not show up for their scheduled ice slot, be it a practice or a game slot, their team will be charged for the cost of the missed ice slot.  Any additional costs incurred by a no show (such as referee costs) will also be billed to the team.

The Leduc Minor Hockey ice schedule is available on the website and will be updated on a regular basis.

For booking ice or rescheduling please e-mail the Ice Coordinator - ice@lmha.ab.ca.

Any constructive suggestions, comments or questions are welcomed and appreciated.
