The Team Manager is a central figure in creating the flow of communication - not only within the team (players, parents and coaches), but between the team and all support systems such as the Minor Hockey Association, Governors, League Managers, other teams, referees and officials. By taking on the operational aspects of the team, the manager enables the coach to focus on player development and on-ice instruction to provide the players with rewarding hockey experiences.
Every team will organize themselves slightly differently to best function in their surroundings, however, there are still many tasks that all Team Managers will need to complete regardless of what team they work with.

In the case of any accident/injury, a report must be submitted to Hockey Alberta within 90 days of the date of the incident. The Team Manager should carry blank injury forms at all times (the form can be found here or above in the Important Information Links). We also recommend that each parent's vehicle has a copy to ensure it is available in time of emergency. This form needs to be filled out immediately. If the player needs medical attention the form should accompany them to the hospital for the doctor/dentist to fill out at the time. If the form is not available please ensure that name, address and phone number of the attending physician is written down so the form can be sent to them. Once the form is filled out entirely a copy should be kept in the managers files and the original should be given to the Risk Manager to send onto Hockey Alberta - amarriott@hockeyalberta.ca.
